Individual tax

Individual returns, prepared with next year in view.

Careful preparation of your federal and state returns, reviewed with you before you sign.

Who it’s for

Higher income usually means more moving parts.

Several income sources, investments, RSUs, a rental, or income in two states. We prepare your return with the whole picture in view, then use what we learn to plan ahead.

Typical situations

  • High-earning professionals with bonuses or equity compensation
  • Investors with brokerage, rental or K-1 income
  • Taxpayers who moved or earned income in more than one state
  • Self-employed people who file personally
  • U.S. citizens and residents living or working abroad

What we handle

  • Federal and state return preparation and e-filing
  • Investments, rental properties and pass-through (K-1) income
  • Equity compensation: RSUs, stock options and ESPP
  • Next year’s estimated payments, where your tier includes them
  • Your completed return to review, with time for questions, before you sign

Five tiers

Find your tier in about a minute.

Every tier starts online. Essentials and Standard are flat fees. Professional, Business Owner and U.S. Expat are starting fees for a defined scope; if your return needs more, we send a written scope change before any extra work. If more than one tier applies, the highest one applies.

Online filing for 2026 returns opens January 2027.

Our approach

Preparation is where planning starts.

When your return is complete, you’ll know what drove your tax bill and what can be adjusted going forward.

If your situation calls for it, we can continue with planning through the year: a projection, quarterly estimates, or a single strategy session before a big decision.

FAQ

Before you start your return.

Which tier am I?

The fit check on Start Your Return asks five questions and places you. If more than one tier applies, the highest one applies. A single 1099-NEC or 1099-K doesn’t move you to Business Owner on its own; we confirm placement when we review your documents.

How is my fee set?

Flat prices are the full fee for the scope described. Prices marked “from” are starting fees: we confirm your fee in writing after reviewing your documents, before preparation starts.

If your return includes items outside the tier you chose, we pause and send you the revised fee. You can approve it or decline it; if a declined item is required for an accurate return, the engagement ends. Refunds follow the stage your return has reached: a full refund until we send your open-questions list, then we keep 40% of the fee until your draft return is delivered, 85% once it’s delivered, and the full fee once it’s filed. We initiate refunds within 10 business days, with no processing fees deducted, and correct any error of ours at no extra charge. Details are in the Service Terms.

What isn’t included in any tier?

Additional state returns beyond the one included, amended and prior-year returns, responses to IRS or state notices and representation, bookkeeping, nonresident (1040-NR) returns and business entity returns. Each is quoted separately.

How do I send documents securely?

Through the secure client portal you receive when your engagement begins. Organizers, uploads, the engagement letter and e-signatures all live there.

Please don’t email Social Security numbers, tax returns or account statements, and keep the website contact form general. It is for first contact only.
