Tax planning & advisory

Decisions made before the deadline, not after it.

A projection of where you stand, a clear view of your options, and time to act on them. As a single session, a quarterly plan, or a year-round relationship.

  4. Dec 31 Year-end planning

Federal estimated-tax payments are generally due on these dates; when one falls on a weekend or legal holiday, it moves to the next business day. The January payment belongs to the prior tax year. December 31 is when many year-end moves need to be in place, though not every strategy works on that deadline.

The planning year

Most tax outcomes are decided before December 31.

If you’re self-employed, own a business, or have income without withholding, you generally pay tax during the year through quarterly estimates. We calculate them from a projection of your actual year and apply the prior-year safe-harbor rules where they help.

Your level, scope or fee changes only with your written agreement. A short question takes about 15 minutes or less; research, calculations and document reviews are scoped separately. Check-ins are scheduled around your own deadlines; one becomes available for each three months you’ve paid (two at Advanced), and unused check-ins lapse. Between mid-February and April 15 they cover deadline matters only. Partial months aren’t refunded, but if you cancel in your first month before we send your initial tax review and projection, we refund your first payment in full.

Not included at any level: tax-return preparation, bookkeeping, payroll administration, representation, and legal or investment advice.

FAQ

Planning, in practice.

What does a Tax Strategy Session cover?

A focused 60-minute session by Zoom on the questions that matter most right now, with a short review of what you share beforehand and a written summary of recommendations, which we aim to send within 3 business days. The fee is credited toward a one-time planning or setup service signed within 60 days after your session (not toward returns or monthly services).

Why pay estimated taxes?

If you are self-employed, own a business, or have income without withholding, you generally need to pay tax during the year through quarterly estimated payments. We calculate them from a projection of your actual year and apply the prior-year safe-harbor rules where they help.

How does Year-Round Tax Advisory work?

Scope, meeting cadence and communication expectations are defined in your engagement letter, and fees are billed monthly in advance. Tax return preparation is priced separately.

What happens on an Intro Call?

The Intro Call is a free conversation to understand your situation and recommend the right service and fee. It isn’t tax advice or a tax consultation, and no client relationship begins until you sign an engagement letter. If you’d like professional advice right away, a Tax Strategy Session ($300) is the place for it.
